Auterson Birdies 18 To Back Up Victory Prediction!
April 25, 2008
HIALEAH, Fla. – After firing a six under par 66 on Wednesday and losing to a
birdie by Scott Ford on the first playoff hole, Mike Auterson said he was going
to win at Country Club of Miami on Friday. Unless your name is Tiger that
is a pretty bold prediction, but
Auterson of Milford, Ohio
knew his game was firing on all cylinders.
In regulation, Auterson eagled the par-5 13th
hole on the West course and added four birdies and five bogeys.
A two-shot swing at the 18th hole proved decisive as Auterson
birdied to win by 71-72 when, a few minutes later, Kris Lim of Coral
Springs bogeyed. Lim had three birdies and as many bogeys.
Auterson earned $550, Lim $450, from the $2,550 purse.
Dave Clodfelter was third by himself at one over par 73 in only his second
event since becoming a father of twin boys.
Next on the MLGT schedule: April 29-May 1 on the Estate course at PGA National, the
last of three 54-hole spring series tournaments in which the winner is
guaranteed $3,000!

Both players birdied the par-5 first hole in regulation and at the par-5
second, Ford eagled and Auterson birdied. Overall, Ford had an
eagle and four birdies, Auterson eight birdies and two bogeys.
Ford, who also won an MLGT event Feb. 6 at Winston Trails, earned $800,

PALM CITY, Fla. – Matt Abbott of Endwell,
N.Y., made four birdies on each nine Monday enroute to a seven under par
65 to win a Minor League Golf Tour event on the Crane Creek course at
Martin Downs Country Club. Abbott sandwiched his only bogey of the
day at the par-4 ninth hole with birdies at Nos. 1, 4, 5 and 6, then at

It was Abbott’s seventh MLGT title, his
second this year following a victory Jan. 28 on Martin Downs’ adjacent
Osprey Creek course. He earned $900 from the $4,750 purse.
Brett Bergeron, playing in his first MLGT event, shot four under par 68
for solo second place followed by Tim Cantwell and Steve Burns who tied
for third at three under par 69. Marc Mazza and Kip Byrne posted 70
and Adam Condello was alone in seventh at one under par 71.

MLGT Money List.
The 42nd tournament of the year,
and the 340th since the MLGT started in August, 2004, drew 39
starters. Two more 18-hole events are scheduled this week, Wednesday

Derrick Bohannon and Mike San Filippo
Overcome Extreme Conditions, Finish 8 Shots Ahead Of The Field
April 16, 2008
STUART, Fla. – Derrick Bohannon and Mike San Filippo were the only
two players under par at the end of 54 holes of regulation play this
week at The Florida Club. The final two rounds were played in
extremely windy conditions that were even more difficult during the
final round, with players having to sort out 3-4 club winds.
It was a thrilling finish. Bohannon got up and down for par on
the seventeenth hole from the greenside bunker while San Filippo two
putted over a ridge to a tucked pin. The eighteenth hole was
playing dead into the gusty wind and Bohannon hit 5-wood from 187
yards to about 20 feet before San Filippo's approach found the green
side bunker. After San Filippo blasted out to about four feet,
Bohannon ran his birdie putt just over three feet past the hole.
Both players missed their par putts. On the first playoff
hole, the par-4 tenth, Bohannon two putted from the back fringe.
San Filippo missed the green short, pitched to about four feet and
failed to convert his par putt. Bohannon earned $3,000 for the
win.

Windy, Cool Day Drives Scores Up, Mike San
Filippo Leads By 2 Over Derrick Bohannon
April 15, 2008
STUART, Fla. – Two players
remain under par after gusty winds and cool temperatures tested the
patients of the 28 player field. First round co-leader Mike
San Filippo posted his second under par round of the event to lead
at five under par 139. San Filippo, who got a skin with his
birdie on the 230 yard seventeenth hole, just missed a hole in one,
after his tee shot finished a few inches past the cup. Derrick
Bohannon is two back at three under par 141 and Kyle Dobbs, who
qualified for the 2007 US Open is five back at even par 144.
The cut moved from a projected +6 over par all the way up to +9 as
the windy, firm conditions, made scoring difficult. The 36
hole cut to 50% of field and ties was from 28 to 16 players.
It is possible to make the cut and not earn a check. In this
payout of 28 players, 14 spots will be paid.
Since 3 players made the cut on the number, only 14 of the 16
players playing in the final round will make a check unless there is
a tie for fourteenth place.

Vasel holes chip on first playoff hole
Kyle Vasel Chips In On First
Playoff Hole To Secure Win Over Ryan Howison
April 10, 2008
ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. – Kyle
Vasel of Greenville, Illinois, chipped in for birdie on the first
playoff hole Thursday to earn his third victory on the Minor
League Golf Tour. Vasel and Ryan Howison of Jupiter had
tied at four under par 68 at the Links at Madison Green.
In the playoff, Howison had hit
his tee shot into an unplayable position under a bush right of
the fairway, dropped out and hit his next shot on the green
about 15 feet from the hole for a chance for par. However,
after he missed the green short and right, Vasel holed his chip
for the winning birdie.
In regulation, both Vasel and Howison made five birdies and a
bogey. Vasel’s earlier MLGT wins were on March 20 at Ocean
Breeze GC, Boca Raton, and on March 10, 2006 at Winston Trails
GC, Lake Worth. Howison, a part time Nationwide Tour
player, has won eight times on the MLGT. Vasel earned
$650, Howison $475, from the $4,000 purse.

Birdies Both Playoff Holes For Win Over Fitzpatrick, Howison and
King! April
7, 2008
BOCA RATON, Fla. – David Smith of
West Palm Beach birdied two straight playoff holes for the victory
Monday at Ocean Breeze Golf Club, his second on the Minor League
Golf Tour.
Smith birdied the par-5 first hole,
chipping back to within a foot from behind the green, and the
par-4 second from seven feet. He had tied at two under par 70 with
Jim Fitzpatrick II, Ryan Howison, and Marvin King on the South and
North nines. The trio of Fitzpatrick (4th), Howison (3rd)
and King (8th) have earned over $14,000 on the MLGT so far in
2008.
In regulation, Smith had three birdies, three bogeys, and eagled
the par-5 sixth hole on the inward North nine. He earned
$600 from the $2,922 purse. It was his second MLGT title,
the first coming on Oct. 23, 2007, at the Florida Club in Stuart.
In the playoff, Marvin King of
Deerfield Beach birdied the first hole but parred the second on a
tap-in moments before Smith birdied for the win. King had
four birdies and two bogeys. Both Ryan Howison of Tequesta
and Jim Fitzpatrick II of Palm Beach Gardens were eliminated with
pars on the first extra hole. Howison and Fitzpatrick each
made five birdies and three bogeys. King, Howison and Fitzpatrick,
tied for second among 29 starters, received $366.67 apiece.
TOUGH BREAK...... Michael Brice missed the playoff by a shot after
his 2nd on the eighteenth hole ended up 30 yards from the hole, on
top of a buried range ball. After going over his options
with a rules official, he decided to play it--due to the seemingly
very good lie it was in compared to the sandy, downhill conditions
where he would get relief. Unfortunately the buried ball
absorbed most of the impact of his shot and Michael ended up
making bogey. Do you think Tiger has practiced that one?

Par 68 In Very Windy Conditions!
March 17, 2008
TAMARAC,
Fla. – Pierre-Henri Soero of Palm Beach Gardens
eliminated any need for St. Patrick's Day luck as blustery
conditions and slick greens tested the players ability and
patience on Monday at Woodmount Country Club.
With precision ball striking
and a rock solid putting stroke,
Pierre-Henri posted a -4 under par 68 to win by a shot over JC
Deacon and Ryan Howison.
Craig Matheson and Scott Turner both shot 70 and tied for fourth
place followed by Daniel Tyskbo at -1 under par 71.
Mark Zanotti finished in a
tweleve way tie for 19th, but made a hole in one on the
par-3 fourteenth hole. It was his first hole in one
and the only skin of the day.
Previously in a MLGT event, Zanotti holed out from the tee
on the par-3 eleventh hole at The Breakers Rees Jones
course after his original tee shot found the water....it
was a pretty good par.
PALM BEACH GARDENS,
Fla. – Brandon Knaub of York, Pa., parred the first playoff hole
Friday to win on the Minor League Golf Tour
Protogolf.com Classic on the Estate
course at PGA National. Knaub and Ryan Howison of Jupiter, a
Nationwide Tour player, tied at six under par 66.
In the playoff,
Knaub reached the green from the left rough and two-putted from 28
feet for the victory, his third on the MLGT and second this year.
Howison’s approach from the fairway buried in a greenside bunker.
He blasted out but missed a 30 footer from the fringe for par.

Nick Beddow Tames
The Wind, Wins By 3!
March 3, 2008
PALM CITY, Fla. – Nick Beddow of Shirley, NY, fired a four under
par 68 Monday at Hammock Creek to earn his first victory on The
Minor League Golf Tour by three shots over his nearest
competitors. Playing the back nine first Beddow made five
birdies and a bogey to turn in 32, then match par 36 on the front
nine with one birdie and one bogey.
His four under par round was outstanding given the
extremely windy conditions that made scoring difficult for the
52 player field.
Ben Boudreau, Jim
Fitzpatrick II, and Scott Ford all finished three back of
Beddow at one under par 71, followed by:
Corey Brigham,
Michael Brice, Jack Lander, Peter Laws and Phil Wildermuth at even
par. Six players tied for tenth at one over par 73.
