SUBJECT: Minor League Golf Tour, final round
DATE: March 14, 2006
PALM CITY, Fla. - Jason Powell of Loudon, Tenn., shot 31 on the
front nine the final round and went on to score his second Minor
League Golf Tour victory Tuesday at Hammock Creek Golf Club.
Powell closed with 67-138 to earn $1,000 from the $4,110 purse. He
birdied Nos. 2, 4, 5, 7 and 9, then carded nine straight pars on the
inward side. Powell's first MLGT victory came last May 9 on the
Estate course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.
Marvin King of Australia was second among 17 starters with
70-72-142. Had he birdied the final hole, King would have tied
Powell and forced a playoff. But he hit his tee shot out of bounds
enroute to a triple bogey. He also had six birdies and three bogeys.
Next on the MLGT schedule: Friday, Inverrary CC-East, Lauderhill,
and March 27, PGA National-Estate. For information and entry, call
