PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Charlie Harrison from Atlanta, GA won the 2016 Justin Fonseca Award presented by the Minor League Golf Tour. The award was presented to Charlie at the conclusion of the 2nd annual Justin Fonseca Memorial Tournament today at the Estates Course at PGA National.

Justin Fonseca was a fine young man that was taken from this earth much too soon. He died in an automobile accident in New York in June, 2014 at just 27 years old. Justin was passionate about golf. It was all he thought about and drove him to work hard. He worked during the summers at Island Hills Country Club in New York to save up enough money to come down to Florida during the winter months to to pursue his dream of playing golf professionally. He competed on the Minor League Golf Tour four straight seasons from 2011-2014 making a lot of friends along the way. He was a class act on and off the golf course.

Charlie Harrison and the word sportsmanship go hand in hand. Charlie is humble in victory, gracious in defeat, and treats everyone he comes in contact with the utmost respect. Charlie was honored and humbled to win this award. Along with the award, Charlie will earn an entry paid by the MLGT to his next one day event he plays.

Fonseca's parents, Susan and Peter flew down from Great River, NY just to be at this tournament that honored their son. Harrison was in Atlanta visiting his family for Thanksgiving so he was unable to compete in the event today but he drove straight from the airport to PGA National to be there for the award presentation and to meet Mr. and Mrs. Fonseca.
