PORT SAINT LUCIE, Fla. - The staff of the Minor League Golf Tour spent the last four days at the PGA learning center, part of PGA Golf Club, in Port Saint Lucie, FL. The rules of golf were overhauled for 2019 and the entire rules book has a new look. The goal of the USGA and R&A was to simplify the rules and improve pace of play.
Tournament Director Scott Turner and Assistant Director Steve Harrop learned from David Staebler, USGA and Tom Carpus, PGA. Both are PGA Master Professionals who have officiated 24 PGA Championships, 16 USGA Championships, 9 Masters, 3 Players Championships and a Walker Cup.
The workshop covered all 24 of the 2019 Rules of Golf including all the changes from the previous rules, the proper marking of a golf course and the duties of a committee during a golf tournament.
