JUPITER, Fla. - As 2011 winds down, The Minor League Golf Tour is ramping up for an awesome 2012. There will be a lot of positive changes in 2012, starting with the name of our tour.
The harsh economy has taken its toll. So, like so many players, profession golf tours are looking for new sponsorship. Hooters of America, Inc. dropped The NGA Tour. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company will end its sponsorship of the PGA Tour's feeder tour at the end of 2012, and The Minor League Golf Tour's sponsor Fuzion Golf closed its doors back in October. Since their support was in player discounts and bonuses, it will not in any way affect the tour payouts.
So after attempting to find a new sponsor, one that MAY OR MAY NOT be able to deliver what they promise, the idea to develop a way to help the players, help themselves, while helping the tour was born. We have always been a players tour, and with this new plan, we hope to create a solid win-win scenario for the future.
Players can earn money towards event entry fees by promoting GOLFslinger.com
GOLFslinger.com is a retail golf website that is being created to be the sponsor of the tour. It will be up and running in the next few weeks. The GOLFslinger.com Tour will allow players to earn money towards their entry fees by promoting the retail golf website to all the golfers they know.
By January 1, each player will be able to sign up online to receive a unique promotional code. When that code is entered with an online order, at least 5% of the order value will go towards that players entry fees on the GOLFslinger.com Tour. Players will also have the option to get free GOLFslinger.com Tour business cards with their name, information, and unique promotional code to hand out.
Additionally, a donate now button will be added to all players bio screens to allow anyone to help players in their quest by donating money directly towards their entry fees. These new elements will enhance the original mission of the tour....to provide players with the dream of playing major tour professional golf, a vehicle to do so---even if they do not have a sponsor.
$1,000 1st in ALL 2012 One-Day Events, $2,000 1st in ALL 2012 Two-Day Events
Ten 2012 $1,000 Nationwide Tour Monday Qualifier Bonus Contests
Using a significant portion of tour membership fees, our tour has paid for 14 players Q-School entry through our contests that began in 2009. It has been very exciting and one of this year's contest winners, Steve LeBrun, came within 2 shots of his PGA Tour Card. With all the rumored changes to Qualifying School, we have decided to change it up in 2012. We will have 10 Nationwide Tour Monday Qualifier Bonus Contests worth $1,000 each AND guarantee $1,000 first place in all 1-Day and $2,000 first place in all 2-Day events throughout the year.
$10,000 1st in ALL FOUR 2012 Majors March, May, September, December
Additionally, starting in January, we will start taking out $10 per player, per event to go towards our four Majors. A running total will be on the front page of the tour website. All of this money will be added into the purse, with $10,000 going to the winner in each Major event. Players must qualify for each of these Majors by ranking in the top 72 in earnings during a set period of time before each event. These top 72 players will have an entry deadline. After that deadline, players ranked 73 and higher will have a chance to fill up the 72 player fields.
Come Play on the GOLFslinger.com Tour

Play well,
