STUART, Fla. – Jon Curran of Jupiter grabbed the first round lead and never let go, winning for the third time on the Golfslinger.com Tour at the Champions Club at Summerfield. Curran shot 67-70 and at 137 he won by three strokes over the 42-player field. Curran made five birdies Thursday, four birdies and two bogeys Friday.
Curran earned $2,000 from the $13,650 purse. It was his 13th start since he joined Golfslinger in September. Both his previous wins were within four days the week after Thanksgiving, at Ironhorse CC and the Links at Madison Green.
2009 GOLFslinger Tour Championship winner Eric Cole of Orlando finished 3 back at 4-under par 140 (72-68) followed by Matthew Broome from Barrington, RI in third at 1-under par 143 (72-71). Jake Katz (71-74), Jimmy Lytle (75-70) and Michael Midgette (74-71) tied for fourth place at 1 over par 145.
Golfslinger plays three consecutive days of 18-hole events next week: Monday, TPC at Eagle Trace; Tuesday, Santa Lucia River Club; and Wednesday, West Palm Beach GC.
There was $150 in the Day 2 skins pot with 3 skins out worth $50 each.

STUART, Fla. - Jon Curran of Tequesta, Florida leads the way after a 5-under par 67 opening round of the 2-Day Tournament at Champions Club. 7 players are at even par or better, but Curran has a 4 shot lead over Stephan Grant and Jake Katz who are tied for 2nd at 1-under par 71.
One month from now the first of five 2013 GOLFslinger Tour majors will be contested on this course. The winner of each major will take home $10,000 of added in money from qualifying, the GOLFslinger Tour and buy in players.
