WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After they matched eagles at the 18th hole to tie at 11 under par 205, Carl McCauley birdied the fifth playoff hole Wednesday to edge Jon McLean for his 13th victory on the Minor League Golf Tour.

Playing in the final day’s first pairing, McLean, of Weston, FL, shot the low score of the week, an eight under 64 on two eagles, five birdies and a bogey. McCauley, of Parkland, FL, finished an hour later with 67 on four birdies and a bogey before his tying eagle at the par-5 closing hole.

In 54 holes, McCauley made an eagle, 13 birdies and 4 bogeys. He received $1,750 from the $8,625 purse, raising his career earnings to $51,233 since July, 2006. McLean had 12 birdies and 5 bogeys in addition to a pair of eagles Wednesday. He collected $1,400. Since January, 2010, McLean has totaled $33,907, winning six times.

They halved the first four holes of the playoff with pars before McCauley sank a six-foot birdie putt at the fifth hole. Moments earlier, McLean missed his birdie chance from 10 feet.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Matthew Ceravolo from Palm Beach Gardens, FL broke out of the four way tie for the lead with a 3-under par 69 and a two day total of 137 to take a 1 shot lead into the final round. Carl McCauley and Chris Deaner are tied for 2nd just one shot back. They both carded rounds of 68-70 for a total of 138.

The 36 hole cut fell at 3-under par 141 with 10 players making the cut.

Wednesday August 19th there will be a one day event held at West Palm Beach Golf Club open to players that failed to make the 36 hole cut and any other professionals or amateurs with a USGA handicap of 6 or less that chose not to compete in the 54 hole event. The one day event has an entry fee of $150 with a 40% payout. There will also be a Training Division option on Wednesday with an entry fee of $75.

Tied for 5th but only one shot off the lead going into day 2 are Doug Ebe, Johhny DelPrete, and Jon McLean. They all shot 3-under par 69 on the opening day.

The field will be cut to the low 40% and ties after 36 holes which will be the top 10 players and ties out of the 23 player field.
