SEBRING, Fla. - Peter Bradbeer fires 206 (69-69-68) to win the 2022 Citrus Golf Trail Open and the $20k first place check. Along with the winners check comes the coveted orange jacket.
Bradbeer started the final round one shot behind a trio of leaders. Through nine holes of the final round he was -9 for the tournament and tied for the lead with Christian Chapman who was -9 on his final round. Bradbeer hit driver on the 320 yard par-4 10th to 6 feet and converted the eagle putt to take the lead by two. After a bogey on 17 he made a great par save on the last to post 10-under par. Michael Kartrude eagled 14 and birdied 16 to get within one with 2 to play. When he was unable to birdie one of the last 2 holes Peter Bradbeer breathed a sigh of relief as he earned his first win as a professional.
The $20k first place check is the biggest first place check in MLGT history.
A huge thank you to Sun 'N Lake Golf Club and it's members for hosting and to the Citrus Golf Trail for sponsoring the event and adding $10k to the purse!
Michael Kartrude, Jimmy Hervol and Jackson Suber will enter the final round tied for the lead at 7-under par 137. Windy conditions in round 2 saw the scoring average go up almost a full shot.
First round leaders Landon Michelson and Carr Vernon struggled to 74 and 76 respectively and will look to bounce back in tomorrow's final round.
22 players (40% and ties) made the 36 hole cut which fell at 1-over par 145.
Defending champion Landon Michelson isn't ready to relinquish the orange jacket just yet. He and Carr Vernon share the opening round lead with 6-under par 66's on the Deer Run course at Sun 'N Lake. Ironically they both made 5 birdies in a row on the same stretch of holes 11-15.
Dylan Meyer is just one back after a closing birdie on 18 followed by 7 players tied for 4th at 3-under par.
