STUART, Fla. – Brett Stegmaier of Vero Beach and Hamden, Conn., made eight birdies without dropping a stroke Thursday to earn his fifth victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour. Stegmaier edged Derrick Bohannon of Palm City by a shot, 64 to 65, at the Champions Club. Each made eight birdies but Bohannon bogeyed the par-5 13th hole.

It was Stegmaier’s second win in three weeks. He birdied Nos. 1, 2, 5, 6, 13, 14, 16 and 18, earning $1,000 from the $2,945 purse. Bohannon was second among 19 starters and received $525. To go with his lone but decisive bogey, Bohannon’s birdies were at 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 18.

Bohannon also won his second $1,000 bonus of the year which is to be used toward entry into qualifying for a Web.com Tour event later this year. He was 22 under par for six rounds, or six 18-hole tournaments in the last two weeks.

Golfslinger plays twice next week: Tuesday, North Palm Beach CC, and Thursday, Quail Ridge CC, Boynton Beach.

There was $60 in the skins pot with 6 skins out worth $10 each.
