PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Bob Friend of Pittsburgh, Pa., making his first start of the Golfslinger.com Tour, was the winner Tuesday with a five under par 67 on the Palmer course at PGA National.
Trying to keep his game sharp for a bid later this year to qualify for the 2014 Champions Tour, Friend birdied Nos. 7, 9, 14, 17 and 18. He did not make a bogey and earned $900 from the $5,330 purse.
Eric Cole of Orlando also made five birdies but bogeyed once. He was second among 41 starters, receiving $700.
