LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, N.C., fired consecutive four under par 67s on the West course at Fountains Country Club to claim his 23rd victory since joining the Golfslinger.com Tour in October, 2007.
McCarthy made five birdies and a bogey Monday, four birdies without a bogeys Tuesday. He birdied the par-4 sixth and par-5 11th both rounds. At 134, McCarthy won by two strokes over Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ontario, receiving $2,000 from the $8,640 purse. McCarhy has career earnings of $81,137 and $11,213 this year.
Silverman, a first round co-leader, was second among 27 starters in Golfslinger’s 37th tournament of the year, posting 66-70—136.
The Estate course at PGA National will host. Golfslinger on Friday and Monday. The first “major” of the season is scheduled April 16-17 at Abacoa GC. The winner is guaranteed $10,000 based on a minimum of 55 players.
