LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Carl McCauley of Parkland birdied the third extra hole Thursday to earn his seventh victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour. McCauley and Jimmy Lytle of Ocean Ridge tied at three under par 68 on the West course at Fountains Country Club, then played the par-4 18th hole three times. They matched pars and bogeys the first two times, then McCauley two-putted from 20 feet for the winning par on the third try.
In regulation, McCauley made five birdies and two bogeys, Lytle six birdies and three bogeys. McCauley birdied the final hole and Lytle finished with bogey.
Lytle shares the all-time Golfslinger wins record of 39 titles with Justin Peters. McCauley earned $635, Lytle $500, from the $2,400 purse.
The Golfslinger’s 75th tournament of the year drew 24 entries. Next on the schedule: July 28, The Wanderers Club, and July 30, Jacaranda GC.
