LAKE WORTH, Fla. – After making a 20 foot birdie putt on the final hole, Carl McCauley of Parkland made a two-putt par on the first playoff hole Wednesday to win his third straight start on the Golfslinger.com Tour. McCauley outlasted Greg O’Mahony of Tequesta after they tied at eight under par 136 on the West course at Fountains Country Club.
In the playoff, McCauley two-putted from 30 feet at the par-3 16th hole as O’Mahony missed the green with his tee ball and failed to get up-and-down to save par.
In regulation, McCauley posted consecutive four-under 68s with five birdies Tuesday and six Wednesday. He also won July 24 at the same course and on July 28 at The Wanderers Club in Wellington. Since May, 2012, McCauley has earnings of $32,281.22, including $900 Wednesday.
O’Mahoney has 18 wins and earnings of $81,343.77 since August, 2009, including $625 on Wednesday. He shot 66-70 with an eagle, nine birdies and three bogeys.
Golfslinger’s 79th tournament of the year drew 16 starters and returned $3,040 in prize money. Next on the schedule: Monday, West Palm Beach GC, and Thursday (Aug. 14), North Palm Beach CC.
