PALM CITY, Fla. – Josh Hart of Jupiter played a bogey-free round Thursday to edge red-hot Ben Silverman by a shot, 64 to 65, for his second victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour.
Both of Hart’s wins have come on the Osprey Creek course at Martin Downs Country Club, his first 51 weeks ago, last Nov. 21, on the second hole of a playoff at 69. He birdied Nos. 2, 5, 6, 11, 13, 16 and 17 Thursday and collected $820 from the $4,284 purse. He has earned $10,249 in sporadic appearances on the Golfslinger Tour since February, 2008.
Silverman, of Thornhill, Ontario, also had seven birdies (1, 2, 5, 8, 13, 17 and 18) but bogeyed the par-4 seventh hole. He earned his 23rd Golfslinger title in a 36-hole event earlier this week at Fountains CC-West near Lake Worth. Second among 34 starters, Silverman received $600.
Three one-day tournaments are scheduled next week: Monday, TPC Eagle Trace, Coral Springs; Tuesday, Winston Trails GC, Lake Worth; and Thursday, Fountains CC, South course.
