ATLANTIS, Fla. – Eric Cole of Orlando birdied the 18th hole Thursday to clinch his 22nd victory on the Golfslinger.com Tour. Cole posted a four under par 68 on six birdies and two bogeys to win by a shot at Atlantis Country Club. He received $590 from the $2,938 purse to raise his career earnings to $60,698 since August, 2009.
Tuesday's winner Jimmmy Hazen tied for 2nd with Joel Gibbons of Ocala, and Matthew Ceravolo from Palm Beach Gardens.
On the par 4 fifteenth hole, Cole hit a Tigeresque shot from the left trees. "He aimed straight out of bounds and cut it over 30 yards from 218 to about 15 feet" said Tour Owner Jay Slazinski, who was watching from by the green, "it was one of the best shots I've seen out here."
Golfslinger’s 106th tournament of the year drew 26 entries. Next on the schedule: Monday-Tuesday, Fountains CC, Lake Worth, and Thursday, Martin Downs CC, Palm City.
