PLANTATION, Fla. – Robert De Biase of Venezuela birdied six of his first 10 holes Thursday, including three in a row, for his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Playing the East course at Jacaranda Golf Club, De Biase, 23, opened with birdies at Nos. 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 enroute to a six under par 65. The only blemish on his card was a bogey at the eighth hole. He also birdied No. 14.
De Biase received $600 from the $3,150 purse, raising his career earnings to $1,680 in 16 starts since Feb. 20, 2013.
There were 25 starters. Three 18-hole tournaments are scheduled next week: Monday, TPC Eagle Trace, Coral Springs; Tuesday, Winston Trails GC, Lake Worth; and Thursday, Martin Downs CC, Palm City.
1st 2015 Major in 11 Days!
Monday-Tuesday February 2nd and 3rd is the first "Major" of 2015 at Country Club of Coral Springs. Last year Steve LeBrun finished atop the 76 player field when he closed with a final round course record 61 to win $10,000. The event features a $10,000 first prize at 78 players, and a $6,000 first prize at 50 players.
