STUART, Fla. – Derrick Bohannon of Shelbyville, Ky., making his first start of the season on the Minor League Golf Tour, claimed his 27th Tour victory Friday with a six under par 66 at the Champions Club.
Bohannon, 30, whose Florida base is here in Stuart, received $700 from the $3,245 purse, raising his career earnings to $99,243.75 since May, 2006. He made seven birdies and a bogey.
His final birdie, at the 18th hole, pushed Bohannon a shot ahead of Brian Anderson, Rochester, Ill., and Ben Silverman, Thornhill, Ontario, in the 24 player field. Tied for second, Anderson and Silverman collected $537.50 apiece.
The 20th tournament of the year was played mostly through a steady drizzle. At one point, play was suspended for about 20 minutes to allow excessive water to drain through the greens.
