NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. – Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach, FL and Mason Jacobs of Metropolis, Ill, playing in the same threesome where they could keep their eyes on one another, pushed each other to a one-two finish Thursday in a Minor League Golf Tour event at the North Palm Beach Country Club.

LeBrun, a frequent participant on the PGA and Web.com tours, got the edge by 63 to 64. He made eight birdies, at Nos. 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 18, enroute to his 43rd MLGT victory, collecting $650 from the $2,814 purse to raise his career earnings to $123,120. Coincidentally, LeBrun played his first MLGT event almost exactly eight years ago, on August 16, 2007. After play Thursday, he headed for Knoxville, Tenn, for a Web.com qualifier.

Jacobs also had eight birdies but bogeyed the par-4 fifth hole. His birdies were at Nos. 2, 3, 6, 7, 11, 13, 16 and 18. Jacobs played in his first MLGT tournament in February and has six top-2 finishes in his last seven events, winning three overall, including his last two, on Monday and last Thursday (August 6). He has earned $4,550 overall.

The tour’s 71st tournament of the year drew 21 starters. Next on the schedule is a 54-hole tournament Monday-Wednesday at West Palm Beach Municipal GC August 17-19.
