PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Alvin Okada from Waianae, HI fired a six under par 66 Monday at Hollybrook Golf and Tennis Club for his second victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. He made seven birdies and a bogey to finish three strokes ahead of Alejandro Garmendia of Weston, FL. Garmendia had four birdies and a bogey for 69 to finish second among 13 starters.
Okada received $425 from the $1,325 purse, raising his career earnings to $6,184, all in the past year. Okada played in his first MLGT event on September 11, 2014. He scored his first victory on September 2 at Inverrary Country Club in nearby Lauderhill.
The MLGT's third major of the year starts Wednesday 9/16 at Martin Downs Coutry Club in Palm City. It is a 36-hole tournament with an entry fee of $590. The winner is guaranteed $3,000, or $6,000 if there are at least 45 entries, $10,000 with more than 60 starters.
