LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Sunny Kim made four straight birdies, and six within eight holes, to overcome a pair of eagles by Steve LeBrun and claim a Minor League Golf Tour victory Thursday 64 to 65 in a duel of bogey-free rounds at Winston Trails.
Kim, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, started his birdie streak at the fourth hole, adding birdies at Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11, then made two more, at 14 and 15, for his 38th win since he joined the MLGT in October, 2006. He collected $560 from the $2,270 purse, raising his career earnings to $160,257.
LeBrun, of West Palm Beach, FL, eagled the par-5 fourth and ninth holes, adding birdies at 7, 11 and 13 to finish second among 21 starters. He received $440 to boost his career total to $130,588 since August, 2007. LeBrun is tied with Jimmy Lytle at 48 in career MLGT wins.
Three 18-hole tournaments are scheduled next week: Monday, Inverrary CC-East; Wednesday, Jacaranda GC-East; and Thursday, Ironhorse CC.
