PALM CITY, Fla. – Brandon Smith of West Palm Beach, FL won for the 28th time on the Minor League Golf Tour with a six under par 65 Thursday on the Osprey Creek course at Martin Downs Country Club. Smith had seven birdies and a bogey at the third hole. He collected $575 from the $2,345 purse, raising his career earnings to $91,412 since October 10, 2005. Two of his wins were as an amateur before he turned pro in January, 2010.
Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, was second among 20 starters with a bogey-free five under par 66.
Next week’s schedule starts with a 27-hole tournament Monday at Jupiter Dunes, a par 3 course in Jupiter; followed Tuesday by Plantation Preserve in Plantation, site of second stage qualifying for the 2016 Web.com Tour; and Thursday at Atlantis CC.
