LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, eagled the last hole for a four under par 68 Monday at Park Ridge Golf Course to score his 40th victory on the Minor League Golf Tour, his eighth in the past 10 weeks.
McCarthy, 30, whose Florida home is in nearby Palm Beach Gardens, sank a 35-foot putt from the front fringe on the par-5 18th hole of the Palm Beach County-owned course to edge past a foursome tied at 69. Earlier in the round he made four birdies and two bogeys. McCarthy received $725 from the $3,275 purse, raising his career earnings to $115,606 since joining the MLGT in October, 2007.
There were 25 players for the 110th tournament of the year. Two more 18-hole events are scheduled this week: Wednesday, TPC at Eagle Trace, Coral Springs, and Thursday, Martin Downs CC, Palm City.
