LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Brian Fister from Lexington, KY made 2 eagles and 4 birdies en route to a 7-under par 65 on the South Course at Fountains Country Club. It was Fister's first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour since joing in November of 2013. He took home $960 from the $5,135 purse increasing his career earnings to $9,395.
Fister's victory came over a trio of players including Stephan Jaeger, Jesse Larson, and Bo Hoag. Jaeger won the past 2 events this week on the MLGT at PGA Estates and Abacoa Golf Club and looks to be in good form heading into his 2016 Web.com Tour season. He has conditional status after finishing 98th on the 2015 Web.com Tour's money list.
The Minor League Golf Tour's career money leader, Jimmy Lytle, holed out a hybrid from 232 yards on the par 5 fifth hole for a double eagle. Lytle ending up shooting a 4-under par 68, good for a tie for 5th.
The 7th tournament of the year drew 38 starters. Next on the schedule: Monday-Tuesday at PGA Estates followed by a Honda Classic pre qualifier tune up at Ironhorse Country Club. Both fields are limited to the first 45 players that sign up so sign up early to guarantee your spot.
Also, the Minor League Golf Tour's 1st Major of the year is just 11 days away! It is a 36-hole event staged at TPC Eagle Trace on February 1 & 2. The entry fee is $650 with a 40% payout. First place will be $10,000 with 78 or more players, $7,000 with 60 or more players, and $4,000 guaranteed at any number of players. TPC Eagle Trace hosted the PGA Tour's Honda Classic 9 times.
