LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Playing in the final threesome of the day, Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, out-dueled Alex Medinis of Fort Myers, FL, by 64 to 67 Monday at Inverrary Country Club for his 42nd victory on the Minor League Golf Tour.
Eagles at the par-5 second and 17th holes on the East course were decisive for Kim, who also made six birdies and two bogeys. Medinis had seven birdies and two bogeys, finishing with birdies at the 14th and 15th holes, a bogey at 16 and birdies at 17 and 18. Kim shot 30 on the front side and never looked back.
Kim collected $450 from the purse and an additional $41.58 from the skins game, raising his career MLGT earnings to $174,896 since October, 2006. Medinis, still looking for his first win since joining the MLGT two years ago, received $430, including $100 from an optional bonus pool.
Two more 18-hole tournaments are scheduled this week, Wednesday at Martin Downs CC in Palm City and Thursday at Park Ridge GC, Lake Worth.
