AIEA, Hawaii - Nicholas Mason from Denver, CO, wins the 2nd Minor League Golf Tour event in Hawaii. Just 8 days after winning the Mauna Lani Resort Hawaii State Open, Mason overcame 5 bogies with 2 birdies and an eagle on the par-5 17th hole for a 1-over par 73 and a one shot vicotry over Jared Sawada.
Sawada, from Mililani, HI, won the inaugural MLGT event in Hawaii back on April 6, 2015. Mason and Sawada were tied with one hole to go until Sawada made bogey on the closing hole.
Mason earned $360 for his victory.
The Minor League Golf Tour heads next to the East Course at Makaha Valley Country Club in Waianae, Hawaii for a 36-hole event on Sunday and Monday, December 27-28. The entry fee is $225 which includes cart fees, green fees, range balls, and the purse contribution. There is also an optional $40 ($20 per day) skins game.
December 27-28 there will be a Training Division with an entry fee of $112.50. Training Division entry fee is half that of the of the professional event fee, with the winner receiving a gift certificate for an amount not to exceed the cost of entry. $20-$25 per player will go into the gift certificate purse. The Training Division gives you the opportunity to play the same golf course, on the same day, from the same tees, with the same tournament hole locations as the pros and see how your game stacks up.
