PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Jordan Elsen of Kenosha, a former Wisconsin state amateur star, fired a four under par 67 for a one-stroke margin of victory Tuesday in a Minor League Golf Tour event on the Estate course at PGA National.
Elsen made five birdies (Nos. 2, 4, 12, 14 and 17) to overcome an early bogey, at the par-3 third hole, to edge Brandon Smith of West Palm Beach, FL and David Johnson of Palm Bay, FL, who tied for second at 68 among 22 starters.
Elsen received $550 from the $2,580 purse, raising his career earnings to $26,618 since June, 2013. He collected an additional $183 from a bonus pool and $55 in skins for a total of $788. In 2010, Elsen was named Wisconsin State Golf Association Player of the Year after winning the State Amateur and State Match Play titles.
The next event on the MLGT schedule will be played Thursday at Winston Trails GC, Lake Worth.
