NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. – Joey Sindelar of Horseheads, NY, did not make a bogey and scored his seventh and final birdie of the round on the last hole Monday at North Palm Beach Country Club for a one-stroke win on the Minor League Golf Tour.
Sindelar, son of veteran touring pro Joey Sindelar, edged Bo Hoag of Columbus, Ohio, 64 to 65. Hoag also had seven birdies but bogeyed the par-3 seventh hole to finish second among 32 starters.
Sindelar received $725 from the $4,015 purse, raising his career earnings to $10,595 since Oct. 1, 2013. His previous MLGT victory was in March, 2014 at Martin Downs CC in Palm City. Hoag collected $600. He birdied 5 of his last 9 holes.
Sinelar's 7-under par 64 ties the official course record set by Zack Shriver. The unofficial course record at North Palm Beach Country Club is held by Steve LeBrun. He shot 63 in a Minor League Golf Tour event on August 13, 2015. It is unofficial because the tour played lift, clean and place that day due to wet conditions.
The MLGT has two more tournaments this month: Tuesday and Wednesday at Breakers Rees Jones, West Palm Beach, and Sept. 29 at Abacoa GC, Jupiter.
