JUPITER, Fla. - Greg O'Mahony from Tequesta, FL, wins the Minor League Golf Tour's Web.com Q-school Contest #2 by one stroke over Brandon Smith. The contest consisted of back to back 2-day events with the low 4-day total score winning a full paid entry into 2016 Web.com Q-School.
O'Mahony finished in a tie for 2nd in the first 2-Day event at PGA National Estates with a 3-under par total of 139 (70-69). Greg shot 5-under par 67 in the 3rd round at Abacoa Golf Club and entered the final round one shot back (-8) of Josh Hart (-9). Through 70 holes O'Mahony, Hart and Smith were tied at 11-under par. Smith parred the 72nd hole for a 7-under par final round of 65 and posted a 4-day total of 11-under par 275. Hart and O'Mahony, playing in the final group together, both hit quality aproach shots on the 71st hole, to 10 and 3 feet respectively. Hart barely missed and O'Mahony converted the birdie to get to -12 and take a one shot lead into the 72nd hole. Hart missed the green on the final hole and failed to get up and down from the bunker to finish the contest in 3rd place at -10. O'Mahony hit the green in regulation and 2 putted from 20 feet for par and the win in the Q-School contest.
Congratulations Greg and good luck later this year at Web.com Q-School!
Brandon Smith finished 2nd in the Q-School contest so the Minor League Golf Tour will pay $900 of his 2016 Web.com Q-School entry fee. 27 players participated in the $200 Web.com Q-School contest creating a prize pool of $5,400.
