JUPITER, Fla. – Jordan Elsen of Kenosha, WI, bogeyed the first hole, then birdied seven of the next fifteen to earn a Minor League Golf Tour victory Tuesday at Abacoa Golf Club. After his wobbly start, Elsen, 28, birdied Nos. 2, 3, 6, 10, 11, 14 and 16 and parred the 10 other holes on the 7,220-yard course.
It was Elsen’s eighth win since he joined the MLGT in June, 2013, half of which have been here at Abacoa. He received $550 from the $2,530 purse plus another $200 in the bonus pool. This raised his career earnings to $27,945.
Eric Cole of Orlando, FL, took second among 22 starters when he birdied the last three holes for 68, followed by Matthew Ceravolo of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, who eagled the par-5 10th hole enroute to 69.
Minor League Golf Tour's Summer Team Championship is this Thursday at Martin Downs Country Club. Two person teams will compete in a scramble on the front nine and best ball on the back nine. Entry fee is $300 for the team with an additional $40 team skins game and optional $150 team bonus pool. There will be a closest to the pin and long drive contest where each member of the wining team will receive a $25 gift card.
