A big thank you to Plantation Preserve Golf Course for hosting this event 13 days prior to 2nd stage of WEB.com Q-School. It was a great test for the players.
Scott Turner, Tournament Director for the Minor League Golf Tour, made a decision today to make an exception from tour policy regarding moving players around before play starts.
The Minor League Golf Tour is a proven training ground for professionals and skilled amateurs who are working towards playing on a status tour. Because status tours do not take pairing requests or move players around because they are running late, the Minor League Golf Tour follows those same guidelines.
Wednesday October 26th at Plantation Preserve was an exception to the policy. For the first time in over 2 years of being the Tournament Director, Turner decided to move a few players around due to I-95 being closed down at 6th ave from 6am until 8am.
Our Tournament Director arrives at every event 90-120 minutes before the first tee time to prepare for the event. Today he got caught in the closing of I-95 and did not arrive until the first group was teeing off at 8:00am. Luckily, he was able to contact other MLGT staff members who were able to take an alternate route and get to the event early enough to get everything ready. While one staff member was getting setup at Plantation Preserve, another was texting players warning them of I-95 being closed down at 6th ave and to take an alternate route. The problem was an accident occurred on the turnpike at the same time so for a while both I-95 and the turnpike were at a standstill. At that point more than half the field was affected by the two major accidents on the two main highways. Turner made the decision to move a few players around so all players would have sufficient time to warm up and prepare for their tee time.
The event today was put in place to give players an opportunity to prepare for 2nd stage of WEB.com Q-School. Because of the exception Turner made, all players were able to compete.
The Minor League Golf Tour policy of not taking pairing requests and not moving a player if they are running late to the event will remain in place. Thank you for your understanding on why an exception was made today at Plantation Preserve and thank you for competing in the event.
