ATLANTIS, Fla. – Touring pro Justin Hicks of Grosse Ile, Mich., and Royal Palm Beach, Fla., fired seven under par 65, missing the course scoring record by a stroke Wednesday at Atlantis Country Club.
It was Hicks’ 24th victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. He was second to Steve LeBrun of West Palm Beach, 68 to 67, on Oct. 26 at Plantation Preserve. On a windy day and on fast greens, Hicks eagled the par-4 15th hole and had six birdies, but missed his chance of tying the record of 64 with a bogey at the 18th hole. Also a touring pro, LeBrun tied for third Wednesday with 70.
Hicks collected $1,051, including $700 from the main purse, $231 from an optional bonus pool and $120 in the skins game. He has earned more than $3.8 million combined on the PGA and Web,com tours since 2001.
Hicks won Q-School Contest #5 back in September and is scheduled to compete in 2nd stage of WEB.com Q-School next week at Plantation Preserve. Good luck Justin!
The 95th tournament of the year drew 29 starters and returned $3,510 in prize money. The MLGT plays Thursday at nearby Winston Trails Golf Club.
