PALM CITY, Fla. – Ryan Carter of Miami, FL, playing in the first group off the tee Thursday morning at Martin Downs Country Club, came back with a nine under par 62 to score his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour.
Carter made nine birdies in a mistake-free round on the Osprey Creek course to finish one stroke ahead of Zach Zaback of Farmington, CT. Zaback, who teed off more than an hour later, had four birdies on each nine for 63 and he also did not make a bogey.
Carter collected $1,000 from the $5,835 purse, raising his career earnings to $4,991 since joining the Tour November 3. Zaback received $650 from the main purse and another $231 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $881.
The Minor League Golf Tour's 2nd WEB.com Q-School Contest of 2017 starts in just 18 days. The 4-day contest is comprised of back to back 2-day events. The first half will be held at PGA National Estates Course on 3/20-21 and the second half will be held at West Palm Beach Golf Club on 3/22-23. The Minor League Golf Tour is guaranteeing a full paid entry into 2017 Web.com Q-school for the low 4-day score of those players entered in the contest. If more than 25 players participate in the contest, the extra money will go towards the 2nd place finisher's (in the contest) 2017 Web.com Q-school entry. The first 2-day event entry is $420, the 2nd 2-day entry fee is $390, and the Web.com Q-School contest entry fee is $200.
