JUPITER, Fla. – Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, beaten in a playoff on the Minor League Golf Tour on Wednesday, returned Thursday to claim his 47th victory.
McCarthy fired a five under par 67 for a one-stroke win at Abacoa Golf Club. He made three birdies on each nine (Nos. 2, 3, 9, 10, 11 and 16) and a bogey at the par-4 seventh hole. He earned $600 from the $2,905 purse and an additional $200 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $800, raising his career earnings to $141,555 since October, 2007. McCarthy lost to Canadian Albin Choi on the first extra hole Wednesday after they tied at six under 66 at nearby Old Trail GC.
Dan won a record 4 times on the PGA Tour Canada in 2016 to earn a full Web.com Tour card for 2017. He finished 4th in the first Web.com Tour event of the year but has been battling a wrist injuring most of the year. We're glad to see Dan healthy and back to great form.
Two area favorites tied for second at 68 among the 25 starters. Richard Donegan of Okeechobee made five birdies, then bogeyed the par-4 18th hole. Justin Hicks of Wellington and Grosse Ile, MI, had an eagle, five birdies and three bogeys. Each received $435.

The next MLGT event is Monday at Plantation Preserve GC. They host 2nd stage of Web.com Q-School in November so it will be a great tune up for any players that will be competing there at 2nd stage. You DO NOT have to be competing in 2nd stage of Q-School to play in the MLGT event Monday 10/16.
