CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Nick Latimer of Cleveland, Ohio, won the second tournament in a row on the Minor League Golf Tour with a four under par 68 Thursday at Eagle Trace. Latimer edged Eric Beringer of Philadelphia by one stroke. Beringer was second among 38 starters with 69. Latimer had five birdies and a bogey, Beringer six birdies and three bogeys. Both birdied the par-4 18th hole.
Two days earlier (Jan. 23), Latimer shot 65 at The Evergreen Club in Palm City, also winning by one. He collected $1,152 at Eagle Trace, $1,032 at Evergreen. Thursday’s earnings included $920 from the $4,680 purse and $232 from an optional bonus pool. The last player to win two in a row on the MLGT was Mike Miller of Brewster, N.Y., on Dec. 12 at PGA National’s Estate course and Dec. 14 at Evergreen.
Michael McGowan of Southern Pines, NC, received a men’s SuperSpeed golf training aid from www.GolfTrainingAids.com, a $200 value, based on the low 54-hole score this week, 69 Monday at Parkland CC, 73 at Evergreen and 71 at Eagle Trace for 213. Latimer did not play at Parkland.
