PALM CITY, Fla. – Sean Busch of West Lafayette, IN, fired a seven under par 65 Thursday at Monarch Country Club for his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. The same score 10 days ago at Parkland Country Club was good for his third second place finish.
At Monarch, Busch, 24, made nine birdies plus a double bogey at the par-5 sixth hole to win by two strokes. He received $1,000 from the $6,235 purse and an additional $150 from a skins game, raising his career earnings to $6,940 in 34 starts since joining the MLGT in January, 2017.
Two amateurs tied for second at 67 in the 47-player field: local favorite Alex Vogelsong, who made three birdies on each nine and one bogey; and Rasmey Kong of North Haven, CT, who had five birdies. Kong scored a rare MLGT win by an amateur on March 15 at Palm Aire CC.
