LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Myles Creighton of Digby, Nova Scotia, parred the first hole of a playoff Wednesday to claim his first win on the Minor League Golf Tour and first as a professional. Creighton outlasted Alejandro Garmendia of Pompano Beach, FL after they tied at five under par 66 on the West course at Fountains Country Club.

It was Creighton’s third MLGT start, all this month. He tied for second last Thursday at Jupiter Country Club. At the par-4 first hole Wednesday, he two-putted for par from 30 feet for the win. After six birdies and a bogey, he collected $570 from the $1,940 purse.

Creighton graduated from Radford University in Virginia this past May and just recently turned professional and is going to chase his dream of playing on the PGA Tour.

Garmendia joined the MLGT in August, 2010, and has nine victories. He collected $480 Wednesday, raising his career earnings to $30,101. In regulation, he made seven birdies and two bogeys. In the playoff, he missed the green with his second shot, chipped across the green, then missed a 25 footer for par.

The 2018 Joey D Golf Match Play Championship is just 2 and 1/2 weeks away. It will be staged at Wellington National Golf Club starting Monday 10/29. The entry fee is $375 and there is an optional $125 shootout during Monday's seeding round. The low 16 scores from Monday's seeding round will advandce to match play Tuesday morning. Match play will follow Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and the final's match will take place Wednesday afternoon. Joey D Golf is adding $1,000 to the purse!
