PLANTATION, Fla. – With the Web.com Tour on a brief hiatus, Dan McCarthy of Syracuse, NY, has returned to the Minor League Golf Tour to keep his game sharp. McCarthy, 33, proved it was a good decision Tuesday when he scored a six under par 65 at Jacaranda Golf Club to earn his 49th win on the Stuart-based mini-tour. He birdied seven of his first 10 holes on the East course, then added two bogeys and an eighth birdie to win by one shot.
Kris Wilcoxon of Easton, MD, was second among 35 starters with a 66 on six birdies and a bogey.
Next on the Web.com Tour schedule is the Chitimacha/Louisiana Open March 21-25 at LeTriomphe Country Club in Broussard, LA McCarthy ranks 107th on the 2019 Web.com money list with $26,625. In more than two full seasons, he has made 43 starts, 24 cuts and earned $110,470. Since joining the MLGT in October, 2007, McCarthy has earned $160,429, including $900 from the $4,360 purse at Jacaranda and an additional $223 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $1,123. Prior to Tuesday, his most recent MLGT victory was in the Tour Championship at the end of the 2017 season. Dan is the only player in MLGT history to win the Tour Championship twice.
