PALM CITY, Fla. – Dylan Meyer of Evansville, IN, making just his third start on the Minor League Golf Tour, got his first victory Friday at Martin Downs Country Club. Meyer scored a seven under par 64 on the Osprey Creek course by making seven birdies and not having a bogey. He earned $1,000 from the $5,421 purse and an additional $232 from the optional bonus pool. He has cashed checks in each of his appearances since joining the MLGT on Feb.21 for a total of $1,998.50.
After a decorated amateur career including a win at the 2016 Western Amateur, Meyer turned professional in 2018 and finished in a tie for 20th place at the 2018 US Open. He has Web.com status for 2019 and is trying hard to earn status on the PGA Tour for 2020.
Tied for second in the 40-player field at 65 were Chris Wiatr of Woodbury, CT, and Norway’s Kristoffer Ventura, each with seven birdies and a bogey. Wiatr won the 2018 MLG Tour Championship and Ventura won the 2019 Sunshine State Classic just one month ago.
The MLGT's 2nd Qualifying School Contest of 2019 is just 10 days away. It will be a 2-day event staged at The Fox Club Monday-Tuesday March 18-19. The entry fee is $440 with 40% of the field earning a check. The Contest is optional and is an extra $200.
