PALM CITY, Fla. – In a battle of New Yorkers with varied successes on the Minor League Golf Tour, Gavin Hall of Pittsford edged Sunny Kim of Queens 68 to 69 Tuesday at Monarch Country Club. While each had one bogey, Hall scored five birdies, Kim four, and they earned $675 and $540, respectively, from the $3,085 purse.
And while their MLGT history is significantly different, each had a victory and two other top-3 finishes earlier this month. Overall, Kim is the MLGT’s career money winner with $259,145 and has won 63 times since October, 2006. By comparison, this was Hall’s third win since September, 2017, and he’s earned $11,497.
Sunny Kim takes a 5 shot lead in 2019 Monday Qualifying School Contest #3 into the final event Thursday at Country Club of Coral Springs. All players that compete in all three 1-day events this week are automatically entered and the player with the lowest cumulative 3-day score will win a $1,000 bonus to go compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Web.com Tour. Gavin Hall is at -5 through 36 holes but will not be competing on Thursday because he will be competing in the US Open Qualifier at Mission Inn Resort & Club. Here is the leaderboard for the contest with one event to go.
