PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Blaze Hogan of Big Rapids, MI, posted a seven under par 65 on Thursday at St. Lucie Trail Golf Club for his first victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Hogan, 25, eagled the par-5 eighth hole to go with five birdies (Nos. 1, 3, 11, 14 and 18), winning by three strokes. He earned $520 from the $1,410 purse. Hogan joined the MLGT in November, 2016.
Zach Zaback of Farmington, CT, was second among 12 starters with 68. Zaback collected $370 from the main purse, $50 in skins and $150 from an optional bonus pool for at total of $570. He eagled the par-4 10th and birdied the fourth and 16th holes. Zaback was also the runnerup Tuesday in an MLGT tournament at Jupiter Country Club.
Monday Qualifying School Contest #6 is just 4 days away. It starts on Monday 7/29 at The Falls Country Club. It continues Tuesday 7/30 at Abacoa Golf Club and ends Thursday 8/1 at Jupiter CC. All three days are seperate one day events but the player with the lowest cumulative score will win a $1,000 bonus to play in a Monday Qualifier on either the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour and try to play their way up to the next level.
