LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Blake Morris of Waterbury, CT, birdied the last four holes on the front nine Monday, turned in 29, and went on to gain his sixth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour, his fifth this year.
Playing the West course at Fountains Country Club, Morris shot eight under 63 with birdies at the first and fourth holes, six through nine, and Nos. 15 and 17. He received $725 from the $3,770 purse and another $232 from an optional bonus pool for a total of $957, raising his career earnings to $40,676 since February, 2016.
Phillip Yribarren of Miami, FL was two back with 65 on seven birdies and a bogey, Zach Zaback of Farmington, CT, third on five birdies and a bogey for 67.
The MLGT’s 103rd tournament of the year drew 30 starters. A 36-hole Q-School tune up event is scheduled Wednesday and Thursday at Plantation Preserve GC in Plantation.
