JUPITER, Fla. – Jason Thresher of West Suffield, Conn., scored his second victory on the Minor League Golf Tour Thursday, more than two years after his initial triumph on the South Florida mini-tour. Thresher, 31, posted a four under par 67 at Jupiter Country Club on five birdies and a bogey. He earned $1,025 from the $8,230 purse and an additional $260 in the skins game. Thresher’s only MLGT win heretofore was in November, 2017 at Palm Aire CC in Pompano Beach.
Seven players among the 60 starters tied for second, a stroke back at 68. Brad Gehl of Carmel, Ind., had 3 birdies; Luke Graboyes, Watchung, NJ, and Rasmey Kong, North Haven, Conn., 4 birdies and one bogey; Cameron Young, Jupiter, Fla., and Blake Morris, Waterbury, Conn., 5 and 2, respectively; Matt Cowgill, North Palm Beach, Fla., 6 and 3; and Eric Dietrich, Cheshire, Conn., 8 and 5. They received $515 apiece from the main purse.
This event was the conclusion of 2020 Monday Qualfying School Contest #1. The player with the lowest cumulative score from the three 1-day events this week won a $1k bonus to compete in a Monday qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
