PARKLAND, Fla. – Rasmey Kong of West Palm Beach, FL and North Haven, CT, made four birdies in five holes midway through his round Monday en route to his sixth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. After opening with eight straight pars, Kong birdied Nos. 9, 11, 12 and 13, then closed with another birdie at the 18th at Parkland Country Club for a five under par 67. The son of Cambodian refugees, Kong received $800 from the $4,000 purse and an additional $232 from an optional bonus pool. This raised his career earnings to $37,257 since he joined the MLGT in November, 2015.
Tied for second at 68 among 30 starters were Brendan Hunter of Groton, MA, and Dylan Meyer of Evansville, IN, each with five birdies and a bogey. They collected $540 apiece from the main purse. Meyer received an additional $177 from the bonus pool and $73.33 in the skins game for a total of $790.33.
