PLANTATION, Fla. - Michael Buttacavoli of Miami Beach, FL parred the fourth extra hole Monday for victory on the West course at Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation.
Buttacavoli outlasted Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, the MLGT’s career money winner, after they tied at four under par 68. They halved the first three playoff holes with pars and both missed the green at the par-4 fourth. Both chipped on, Kim missing his attempt at par but Buttacavoli made his for the win. In regulation, Buttacavoli eagled the par-5 ninth hole to go with four birdies and two bogeys. Kim had five birdies, three bogeys and an eagle at the par-5 fifth. It was Buttacavoli’s fourth MLGT victory and it was worth $820 from the $3,905 purse. He got another $223 from an optional bonus pool. Kim has 66 wins and has earned $273,572 since joining the MLGT in December, 2006.
The MLGT returns to action Thursday at Martin Downs GC in Palm City, its 25th tournament of the year.
