CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Ryan Linton of Lake Forest, IL, who earned more than $2,500 in three days on the Minor League Golf Tour last week, was off to another good start Monday with a seven under par 63 at the Country Club of Coral Springs.
Linton celebrated Thanksgiving early with a 13 under par 203 total score. He shot 69 at Winston Trails, 66 at Indian Spring and 68 at Sandhill Crane, receiving $1,000 toward his fee for a Monday qualifier on the PGA or Korn Ferry tours in 2021 in addition to his purse winnings each day which came to $1,555.
His round Monday, which began at the 10th hole, included an eagle at the par-4 12th, six birdies and a bogey. He earned $950 from the $5,325 purse and an additional $223 from the optional bonus pool.
Tied for second at 65 among 43 starters were Marc Mazza of Palm Beach Gardens with six birdies and a bogey, and Leandro Marelli, Cadsida, Argentina, who had an eagle, six birdies and a double bogey. Each received $555 from the main purse, Marelli another $360 in the skins game.
Today's event was the first of three 1-day events that make up Monday Qualifier Contest #8. The professional with the lowest cumulative score for the three events will earn a $1k bonus to compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
