MIAMI, Fla. – Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, returned to the winners circle with a four under par 67 Tuesday at Melreese Country Club. It was Kim’s record 73rd victory since joining the Minor League Golf Tour in October, 2006, but his first since July. He carded five birdies before finishing with a bogey at the par-4 18th hole.
Kim earned $730 from the $3,510 purse, raising his career earnings to $297,441, another MLGT record.
Second among 26 starters was Leandro Marelli of Casilda, Argentina, making just his fourth MLGT start. He made four birdies enroute to a three under par 68, collecting $570. Three more players tied for third with 70's.
Today's event was the second of three 1-day events that make up Monday Qualifier Contest #8. The professional with the lowest cumulative score for the three events will earn a $1k bonus to compete in a Monday Qualifier on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour.
