BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Four players matched four under par 68's Monday to share the victory in Minor League Golf Tour play when darkness prevented a playoff on the East course at Indian Spring Country Club.
The quartet ranged from Sunny Kim of Queens, NY, who leads the MLGT with career totals of 74 wins and earnings of $298,149 to Carr Vernon of Poplar Bluff, MO, who was making his first start on the Stuart-based mini-tour.
Kim made four birdies and Vernon had six with two bogeys. The others were Ethan Marcus of Boca Raton, seven birdies, a bogey and a double bogey; and Paul Pastore. Stamford, CT, five birdies and one bogey.
Like Vernon, neither Marcus nor Pastor has won an MLGT event.The four men split 1st place ($1,000) 2nd ($620) 3rd ($530) and 4th place ($450) prizes and each recieved $650 from the $5,555 purse. Marcus and Pastore collected $213 apiece from the optional bonus pool, upping their totals to $863.
Three of the 42 starters tied for fifth at 69. Two more 18-hole tournaments are scheduled this week: Wednesday, Estate course at PGA National, and Thursday, The Florida Club.
