PALM CITY, Fla. - Michael Sweeney, Olin Browne Jr. and Mickey DeMorat were declared co-champions when the course became unplayable after a two and a half hour rain delay. The course received nearly 3 inches of rain during the delay.
MLGT policy states that once an event is official (at least half of the scheduled starting holes, 18 of 36 in this case, the event is official and all holes that every player completes will count). So with all players completing 1 hole during the final round the event became a 19 hole event.
The three men split 1st ($2,500) 2nd ($1,800) and 3rd ($1,500) place money and received $1,935 each. They all added $386 each from the bonus pool and Sweeney added $200 in skin money.
28 of the 58 players chose to enter the optional $200 Qualifying School Contest presented by Britto & Herman Injury Lawyers. The winner will receive a $5k bonus to use for the Q-School entry fee of their choice. Sweeney, Browne Jr. and DeMorat earned $1,867 each to put towards their Q-School entry fee.
