JUPITER, Fla. - Kevin Johnson from Bethesda, MD finally got the monkey off his back and earned his first professional win after numerous close calls. His bogey free 9-under par 62 at Abacoa Golf Club was good for a one shot win over Timmy Wideman. Johnson holed out from the fairway for eagle on the par-4 3rd hole then added birdies at 4,5,6,10,11,16 and 17. He earned $1,200 from the $8,675 purse plus $210 from the bonus pool for a total of $1,410. Wideman earned $820 for the 2nd place finish.
Justin Griffith was 3rd alone after a 6-under par 65 followed by Blake Wisdom in 4th with 66.
Next on the schedule is Qualifying School Contest #3 presented by Britto & Herman Injury Lawyers at the Champ course at PGA National W-Th May 28-29. The winner will earn a $5k bonus to use towards the Q-School entry fee of their choice.
