HIALEAH, Fla. - Brett Bergeron of LaPlace, La., fired a one over par 73 to win the Minor League Golf Tour event Tuesday on the West course at the Country Club of Miami.
He won 5 of the 20 Q-School Contest 1 events on his way to earning a paid entry to 2009 PGA Tour Qualifying School. The one over par effort was his highest winning score in 12 career MLGT victories, eight this year. He made three birdies and four bogeys, earning $475 from the $875 purse.
A.J. Walker of Fort Lauderdale bogeyed the last hole for 74, second among seven entries. Overall, he had four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey at the par-5 seventh hole. Federico Torresani was third at 75, his best MLGT Finish.
